This past year I joined the Photo Society of America. For my page on their website I needed to choose a selection of images from a number of cemeteries I have photographed. Most of the images here are from the Edinburgh area and all are from historic cemeteries. The sad fact is that many of these graveyards are in an terrible state of disrepair, as the photographs document. This year the World Monuments Fund named several Edinburgh cemeteries as being on their top 10 endangered list. Here's to hoping that makes a difference and the city picks up the slack and begins to set up a program to begin to properly maintain this culturally and historically important sites.
